17 December. The body of Ernst Richter, founder of the hugely controversial social website Alibi.co.za, is discovered in a shallow grave near Parklands. He had been reported missing a month ago. Even under normal circumstances Hawks team members Bennie Griessel and Vaughn Cupido would have had their work cut out for them – getting any employee of Alibi.co.za to tell the truth appears to be virtually impossible. But circumstances are anything but normal. Griessel has started hitting the bottle again with a vengeance and Cupido has fallen in love . . . with one of the main suspects. And on the 24th a young wine farmer’s oral declaration in the presence of an advocate turns the case on its head. Christmas will surely never be the same again.
